Southern Morocco: hospitality as a first step

As soon as we arrived in Ouarzazate, we were warmly welcomed by our local partners. In Skoura, the magnificent palm grove is home to adobe villages, ancestral kasbahs and generous locals.
At Abdelsadek's house, we share our first couscous under the date palms. Salah, our guide, takes us through the irrigated gardens. The adventure has already begun, in a gentle atmosphere of sharing.

Volcanic mountains at the gateway to the desert

The road to M'Hamid crosses the spectacular Djebel Saghro massif. Thyme tea, lunar landscapes, meetings with schoolchildren... then suddenly, the desert opens up to us.
On the horizon, the palm trees fade away. Our footsteps sink into the reg, the first dunes appear. Silence settles in. We leave the world behind, for a few days of eternity.

The magic of the desert: every day a lesson in life

The trek begins. Every morning, we walk for 5 to 6 hours through ergs, hamadas and dry wadis. At Erg Zaher, we climb the ‘Dune de la Chance’, driven by the desire to surpass ourselves.
The bivouacs are simple but welcoming. Every evening, around the fire, we sing, share and admire the endless sky. The Milky Way, the moon, the silence: everything invites contemplation.

A collective challenge, individual emotions
This trek is not just a sporting challenge. It's also an inner journey. The fatigue, the heat, the little aches and pains... all become secondary to the raw beauty of the Sahara.
I'll long remember that solitary walk through the sandstorm, or the epic climb up the big dune, supporting some of my fellow travellers. This mutual support is what makes the group so special.

An adventure of solidarity: walking for others

The Cediv Travel challenge was not just about the pleasure of exploration. It was also meaningful.
Thanks to Operation Toothbrush, we distributed hygiene kits to nomadic families. Another initiative funded the planting of 114 trees in schools in southern Morocco, to provide shade and raise environmental awareness.
Walking for yourself, but also for others. That's what makes this adventure so unique.

Chegaga, the last stage of a transformative journey

On the last day, after a 30 km walk, we reach Chegaga. The camp seemed luxurious: hot showers, sanitary facilities, a cosy bed...
But in the end, what we take with us is much more than comfort. It's the laughter, the singing around the fire, the bonds created, the immense pride.
We covered more than 100 km together, in a spirit of solidarity and goodwill.

A week out of time, engraved in me

I came home changed. More grounded. More attuned. More aware.
This trek in the Sahara was a lesson in humility and collective strength, and a powerful reminder of the beauty of the world when you take the time to really experience it.
A huge thank you to Cediv Travel for this off-the-beaten-track adventure, to the local team for their welcome and generosity, and to my walking companions for the memories they shared.
